Legendary Lakers player, Kobe Bryant, unexpectedly passed away earlier this morning in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California. At the young age of 41, he was often regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He was MVP in the NBA in 2008, led in scoring for two different seasons, broke the record for how many seasons a guard played in NBA history and so much more.
His legacy extends off the basketball court, as well. He was the official ambassador for After-School All-Stars, which helps keep kids off the streets in 13 different U.S. cities. He supported education and health initiatives in China by starting the Kobe Bryant China Fund. Also, he gave a $1 million dollar check to a nonprofit organization to help veterans transition to civilian life again.
